Walking the Old Canal Path
The path is narrow and mostly level. It is not dramatic, which is exactly why it is useful.
By the time I turn around, the city has stopped presenting itself as tasks and become a collection of gestures.
A person standing still by the water sees the same birds return to the same post and still notice them differently each day.
I do not document these walks with photos. The details are enough in a notebook, and that is part of the discipline.
